Shailene Woodley, Mark Ruffalo, Katy Perry, and more reacted to the Dakota Pipeline victory on Twitter, and we’re cheering too!
Over the last few weeks, you’ve probably read about the protests over the Dakota Access Pipeline running through the Standing Rock Indian Reservation and threatening their (only) water supply. People have been working night and day to halt the construction, and their efforts have paid off.
This past weekend, the Army Corps of Engineers agreed to look for another route for the pipeline so that it doesn’t damage sacred ground. And a ton of celebs have Tweeted about this Dakota pipeline news.
If you remember, Shailene Woodley was actually arrested for her pipeline protest back in October (after which she penned a super passionate essay), so this is a very significant win for her.
soooo how many #NoDAPL babies you think are going to be made tonight?! 👅

It really is proof that standing up for what you believe in can genuinely make a real difference, even if positive change happens slowly. To everyone who braved extreme conditions to camp out and protest, or who raised awareness in other ways, we salute you!
This is a momentous victory to start off the holiday season with, and gives us energy and positivity as we move into 2017. Of course there’s still more work to be done to ensure these communities are protected, but nothing good ever comes easy. Together, we CAN do it!
