Shailene Woodley admitted she doesn’t watch TV at the 2017 Emmys, and the internet is pretty conflicted about it
We are as confused as you’re about to be, but stay with us. Shailene Woodley, who stars on one of the most popular HBO series of the last year (Big Little Lies), who was nominated for her work as a TV actress, and who presented an award at the “let’s celebrate TV” awards show (the Emmys) last night, just admitted that she doesn’t watch TV.
Uhh, okay?
“I haven’t had a TV since I moved out of my parents’ house when I was 18,” Woodley told E! News (via Washington Post) last night at the Emmys. “All my friends who watch TV, I just ask them when they have time to.”
She then added that she’s more into books that she is into TV.
“I’m a reader,” Woodley explained. “So I always read a book instead of turning on my TV.”

We have all of the questions, starting with: Has she never seen her own show? Does she know what the Emmys are? Did she not watch Breaking Bad? When people say “cord-cutting” or “streaming” or “binge-watching” does she not know what any of that is? Has she never Netflix’d and chilled?!!?
Naturally, when Woodley made this admission, the internet was like:
It feels a little rude to be at an awards show where you are being recognized for your talent in a television series and to admit that you aren’t aware of any of the other fantastic shows being honored. That seemed to be the internet’s knee-jerk reaction.

Listen, ain’t nothing wrong with books, but it also wouldn’t hurt if Woodley checked out the TV series that her fellow nominees are in, for example, The Handmaid’s Tale. Err, maybe she’ll say she’s already read the book. ?
