You can put those Manolos back in the closet — “Sex and the City 3” is officially *not* happening

Bad news, sports fans. Sex and the City 3 is offish off the table. Despite the circulating rumors and abiding love for the show, turns out that it for sure isn’t happening. How do we know? Sarah Jessica Parker, aka Carrie Bradshaw herself, said so. Pretty straightforwardly, actually. This is one of the few times where we’re willing to take somebody at face value when shutting down a sequel, despite the fact that everything seems to come back around in Hollywood eventually.

When asked about another film, Sarah Jessica Parker told Extra:

"It's over…we're not doing it."

So, uh, not a whole lot open to interpretation there. But we’re not the only ones disappointed — SJP is bummed about the whole Sex and the City movie thing, too.

"I'm disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It's not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie."

This follows reports from the Daily Mail (…and you can take this with a grain of salt) that Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha, had demands that were holding up the process. However, according to Cattrall’s Twitter, this situation is also as straightforward as can be. It has nothing to do with contract negotiations or demands — she just doesn’t want to do it. Which is fair.

We share SJP’s disappointment in this whole thing, because we’d love to get another chance to hang out with our favorite vicarious shopping buddies… But alas, this is one Hollywood happy ending that won’t come to be.
