Serena Williams went into labor on Labor Day weekend and welcomed a baby girl!
Oh baby, do we have some big news. Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian welcomed a baby girl! Williams gave birth to their bouncing baby girl yesterday, September 1st, much to the world’s excitement. Williams announced she was pregnant back in the spring when she accidentally (and hilariously) revealed the news on Snapchat. Her pregnancy was well documented, from cute selfies to her 1950s-themed baby shower.
Williams and Ohanian are going to be great parents, we just know it. Their baby girl probably has no idea what kind of a powerhouse mom she has.
Remember when Williams won the Australian Open while she was pregnant?
Or when she posed elegantly and beautifully for Vanity Fair?
Let’s not forget that she also represented Black Women’s Equal Pay Day, hazed Ben Stiller on the tennis court, and hung out in Disneyland — all while pregnant.
Serena Williams can truly do anything. And now she has taken that one step further by giving birth to her beautiful baby. Both Ohanian and Williams had a strong feeling she was going to be a girl, though they went the old-fashioned way and didn’t learn the sex until she was born.
Last month on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Ohanian opened up about the thought of having a girl.
"We have our hunches," Ohanian said. "[Serena] won the Australian Open while pregnant. And she remarked that she feels like it has to be a girl because everything that little baby went through and handled like a champ — only a woman could be strong enough to take on."
Hell yeah! In an interview with Vogue last month, Williams echoed that sentiment.
"I have a strong suspicion that it's a girl."
We’re so glad that they were spot on. Famous friends (like Queen Bey herself) have already begun to celebrate the birth.
We cannot wait for the first picture. Congrats to the lovely couple, and welcome to the world, Baby Girl!
