Serena Williams’ husband surprised her with four billboards in her honor, and men, step up your game

Think of the most romantic thing your partner has ever done for you. A surprise party? Rose petals and some sort of sexiness? Jewelry? Okay, trash all that, because Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian Sr. just set the bar so freaking high with his adorably extra gesture. In honor of his wife’s return to tennis, he dedicated four Palm Springs billboards in her honor.

The billboards spell out, “Greatest Momma Of All Time G.M.O.A.T.” Also, is GMOAT the new GOAT? We love the matriarchal spin on the classic sports meme.

“These just went up on alongside I-10 into Palm Springs. @olympiaohanian & I wanted to welcome her back to tennis. Designed them myself, with some help from Jr.” Ohanian wrote alongside photos of the billboards.

We feel like there’s a Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri joke in here somewhere, but eh, Ohanian’s version is so much sweeter.

The reason why Ohanian chose Palm Springs for the location is because Williams’ triumphant tennis return will take place at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California the first week of March — so she’ll pass by the four billboards on her drive in.

When it comes to sweet surprises, Ohanian is kinda the GOAT in his own way.

Naturally, the internet is eating this up. false

It’s not just that the gesture is romantic, it’s that he is so supportive of her job, of her need to be both a mother and a professional athlete. Imagine if we celebrated everyone’s work milestones like this?

So how did Williams feel about the whole thing?

“Literally am crying,” she wrote on his Instagram post. “This is so sweet. I love you.”

Awwww.
