OK, this badass 16-year-old girl can seriously drum

I never thought I’d say this, but Dave Grohl better watch his back. Meet Senri Kawaguchi, the 16 year-old drumming prodigy from Mie Prefecture, Japan. She is wickedly talented, incredibly hard working and one kickass drummer. People, hold onto your jaws. They’re ’bout to drop.

While most of us were still getting the hang of our ABC’s, Ms. Kawaguchi was picking up her first drum kit at the age of five. By the time she was 8 -years-old, she was studying drums with jazz-rock drummer, Kozo Suganuma. While extraordinary training certainly played a role in her abilities, we can say with confidence that Senri Kawaguchi was born with a knack for drumming. If you don’t believe us, watch this video of her drumming performances from age 6 to 10.

In just eight years of training, Kawaguchi has met more success than most of us can dream of. For one, she was touring with Japanese rock band, Nokemono, long before she was even a teenager. She’s since gone on to perform with several different groups, including fusion band, Fragile, and idol troupe, the E-girls. Oh, yeah, and she also released an album called A La Mode just last year.

Lucky for us, she also makes videos like this. Let me tell you, watching her drum is other worldly. I promise she’ll send a chill down your spine.

The video, which she posted last month, has since gone wildly viral, racking up over a million YouTube views. Before this video, Senri was already a pretty big deal in the drumming world, but it’s so cool to see her getting more international recognition. It’s also pretty inspiring to see a young female talent—in a field full of dudes—totally kicking ass and taking names.

OK, one more video. Here she is, at age 13, totally crushing it.
