You can selfie for a good cause today on Snapchat

Snapchat: The best app for sending pictures of the guy in line for Starbucks who looks like Alfred Enoch or a video of the cute puppy someone brought to work. A meeting place for the best of both worlds. Did it just get better? It did. For today only, every time you send a snap, Bill and Melinda Gates are set to donate $3 to support World Aids Day.

Bono’s (Red) campaign has aligned with the app to create a one-day only set of filters for your snaps, with celebrities like Jimmy Kimmel, Jared Leto and Tiesto all having their own filters. For each photo snapped with one of the filters, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will donate $3. What is essentially the cost of a cup of coffee can provide 10 days of medicine to patients in sub-Saharan Africa battling the deadly disease. The foundation added that they’ll donate up to $3 million at the end of the day. According to Re/Code, they anticipate hitting their target number of snaps rather quickly. The new filters went live in each region as the clock struck 12 a.m. Tuesday (today!) and will be available for 24 hours only.

This isn’t the first time (RED) has teamed up with apps to promote social awareness to help cure the deadly disease. In 2013, the prolific organization worked with Vine, the year before that with Foursquare, and last year saw a link up with Apple. It’s inspiring and beautiful to say the least. Together — and with a cell phone — a lot of change can be made in this world. So take a picture of something you’re grateful for in your life and use the filter. You could be doing a world of good all from your screen.
