From our spellbook to yours: A self-love spell for the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse

As the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on February 10th launches us headfirst into Eclipse season, many of us are feeling a little, or a lot, wobbly on our feet. Full Moons are an energetically potent time of the month, when our visions for the future are planted and the seeds are watered. Full Moons usher in new beginnings, as do Eclipses. In fact, Eclipses are doorways of intense transformation for us — spiritually, emotionally, and physically. This sense of transformation, coupled with the current political climate and Valentine’s Day around the corner, makes everything feel especially intense, and a natural response to this is to go deep, deep within.
As a Witch, one of my practices is taking time for self-care. This means something different for everyone — it can be as simple as drinking water and taking deep breaths, or as in-depth as a ritual or spell. Both ends of this spectrum are true for my own practice. One of my favorite ways to take care of myself is by taking baths. I load up on lavender epsom salt, empath bath soak from Olde Ways Apothecary, bath bombs, or whatever feels right/whatever I can get my hands on. Salt is the smallest known crystal in the natural world, and since crystals are perfect molecular structures that help clear our own energetic fields, salt grounds us and helps absorb excess energy. Salt baths also feel great and help your muscles relax!
I’ve written a simple self-love bath spell for the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse or for whenever you’re feeling under the weather. A spell is a fancy way to say “working with energy for a desired outcome.” I don’t condone using energy to harm anything or anyone. Instead, I work with energy that comes from a place of love that works in my highest favor.
What you’ll need:
- A bathtub
- Epsom salt (lavender, rose, or eucalyptus is great too)
- Rose petals
- Optional: Rose Quartz, Clear Quartz, Amethyst
- Optional: Pink and white candles
Set up your space.
Make sure your phone is in another room, so that you can be left alone with your bathtub in peace. Let whoever you live with know to not disturb you. Run your bath and when it’s 3/4 full, pour one to two cups of salt in. Then stand at the edge of the tub and close your eyes. Feel your feet firmly planted on the ground, imagining the soles of your feet connecting to the core of the Earth. Take five deep breaths and once you feel ready, start sprinkling rose petals onto the water. As you do so, imagine white light puncturing the bath, clearing it of anything except pure, loving energy.
Get in!
Step into the bath carefully, lowering yourself in, feeling the warm water soak your skin. Magick (yes with a k to separate it from sleight-of-hand magic) works when you feel what you’re doing. Intention is everything! Start connecting with your breath once again. Take however long you need to feel settled.
Say it, out loud.
When you feel ready, place your left hand on your heart and your right hand on top of your left hand. Say the following:
I live from a place of love. I only allow that which works in my highest favor. I am love. I am love. I am love.
As you say this, feel a white light emanating from your heart, engulfing you. This is your bubble of protection and it is always there for you. Take some time to feel your feelings, enjoying the warm water. Take all the time you need.
Ground and center.
Once you feel done, or overheated, exit the bath the same way you entered it. Dry off and press your feet firmly on the ground, imaging all your excess energy returning to the Earth. Take a few deep breaths and notice how you feel. Record any experiences that are unusual for you, including dreams. Return to this as many times as you need.
