NBD but Selena Gomez just casually dropped a new song on Twitter today
We’re all super curious about the upcoming adaptation of 13 Reasons Why on Netflix, but for now, we have this song from Executive Producer Selena Gomez to tide us over. Selena Gomez previewed her “Only You” cover from 13 Reasons Why on Twitter. 13 Reasons Why is based on a 2007 book by the same name, about a girl named Hannah who commits suicide, and the thirteen people who receive cassette tapes explaining how they contributed to her decision after her death.
Although Selena Gomez isn’t in the series, she optioned the book to produce the show, but we’re extra excited to see that she’ll be contributing to it musically, too.
2 days til @13ReasonsWhy… Here's a 1st listen to my cover of "Only You” from the soundtrack, inspired by Hannah and Clay's story. Out 3/30! pic.twitter.com/aSrAFhpFoY

The song is a cover of the 1982 single by the band Yazoo, but we love Selena’s soulful rendition.
Both the series and the soundtrack are set to debut on March 31st, so we don’t have long to wait to see the whole thing, and we’re pretty excited about it. We’re kind of a sucker for high school movies and shows, because they always feature struggles we can all relate to in one way or another. There’s also something about this premise that feels really reminiscent of ’80s teen films, which makes us even more excited to see what Netflix has in store.
Obviously, the premise deals with very a very serious subject and we’re looking forward to a show that might help to elucidate how people’s actions can influence others in positive and negative ways, and maybe make some teens who watch it rethink the sort of short-sighted decisions we all make when we’re young.
