Selena Gomez’s new song “Bad Liar” is so good, we’ve already destroyed the replay button
After a surprise announcement last week, Selena Gomez has dropped her new track “Bad Liar,” and it’s so infectious, you’ll have it on re-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat.
Last week, after some rumors and speculation, something strange started happening over on Selena Gomez’s Instagram, and we had some questions. The singer and actor shared three pictures of a mirror, all with the words “BAD LIAR” written on it. And while we had to wonder if maybe she was, in fact, the latest queen to be eliminated from RuPaul’s Drag Race, it actually turned out that Selena was about to drop a new track.
Things then began to heat up. The singer shared the cover art for the song, which pictures her in a hospital gown lying on the ground with the words “BAD LIAR” scrawled on her legs. The lyrics for the song were then uploaded to Genius, revealing that the song was about resisting falling for someone new, and that it would sample the Talking Heads’ 1977 hit “Psycho Killer.”
Selena then shared a promo image that looked like a still from the video, and it had a really important message.
On the singer’s wrist is a yellow wristband with the word “RISK” on it. The color of the wristband, along with the word, are usually reserved for people receiving medical care, specifically if they’re at risk of falling or weakness. Indeed, photographer Petra Collins confirmed that Selena had traveled straight from the hospital where she was receiving treatment for lupus before the shoot, which is why she was wearing the wristband.
Well, now after all the teasing, Selena Gomez has shared the audio and the video for “Bad Liar,” and it’s pretty darn good.

The track does indeed sample the bass line from the Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer” and sees the singer deliver her signature breathy vocals with confidence.
The song is about SelGo attempting to distract herself from a lover (or ex-lover) who is slowly and gradually getting more and more of her attention, until she proclaims: “All my feelings on fire / Guess I’m a bad liar.”
Selena also shared the video for the track, which she premiered exclusively on Spotify. Follow this link to watch the clip.
“Bad Liar” was co-written by Selena Gomez’s regular collaborators Justin Tranter and rising singer Julia Michaels. The song was produced by Ian Kirkpatrick, who has previously worked with Britney Spears, and is expected to be the first taste of the singer’s upcoming third solo album. The song is available to stream and download now.
Good to have you back, Selena!
