This Selena Gomez “Hannah Montana” theory will change everything you thought you knew about the world

When Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez were on the Disney Channel, the world was a different place. But what if their Disney Channel worlds weren’t so different at all? Prepare to have your minds blown by this Hannah Montana/Selena Gomez fan theory because it’s going to change the way you think about the Disney Channel timeline.

In 2006, Hannah Montana premiered and took the tween world by storm. In 2007, Selena Gomez picked up a guest spot on the show as Miley/Hannah’s rival, Mikayla Skeech. She appeared on three Hannah Montana episodes as Mikayla before moving on to her own 2007 show, Wizards of Waverly Place.

We forgot how much of a menace Mikayla was!

In 2009, Disney Channel premiered a triad-crossover special called Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana. It was huge — historic even! Three of our favorite shows (Wizards of Waverly Place, Suite Life on Deck, and Hannah Montana) were mashed together and therefore proved that they existed in the same world.

But if these shows existed in the same time and sphere, then how could Selena Gomez be both Mikayla Skeech and Wizards sister, Alex Russo?

According to the 2016 theory from Tumblr user wayfaringandwhatnot, there is only one reasonable explanation as to how Alex and Mikayla both live within this timeframe…https://wayfaringandwhatnot.tumblr.com/post/146581626199/what-she-says-im-fine-what-she-means-selena

Yes, you read that right. Alex Russo and Mikayla Skeech are the same person, and Alex was using some kind of magical spell to maintain the double-life.

TeenVogue points out that in the 2009 crossover special, Hannah Montana and Alex Russo never physically cross paths, even though they are within the semi-tight quarters of the cruise ship from Suite Life on Deck.

How could they avoid each other, and why would they? If Hannah saw Alex she would recognize her as Mikayla Skeech and the entire illusion would be null and void.

And remember when Alex sang on Wizards of Waverly Place? IT ALL MAKES SENSE.

We find this theory perfectly credible. Hey, if we had magical powers, you know we’d use them to finagle a pop star alter ego too! And although we may never learn the truth about the Selena/Alex/Mikayla conglomerate, we still believe in Disney Channel magic!
