Selena Gomez did an Instagram live and we learned that she’s a ride-or-die friend
In honor of New Year’s resolutions, Selena Gomez gets real about what she learned in 2016 during an Instagram live. We might not have seen a lot of her last year, but that doesn’t mean Gomez hasn’t learned a lot!
The former Disney star was pretty MIA on social media in 2016, but 2017 is a new year and therefore a new outlook on life and social media…at least for Gomez.
Last weekend, following two new Instagram posts on Saturday, the “Same Old Love” singer spilled her biggest life lesson on Instagram Live and it’s pretty deep.
“So, I would say, the biggest lesson that I’ve been learning since 2016 would definitely be awareness,” Gomez revealed on Instagram.
"I think it's really important to be aware of like, the people that you're surrounding yourself with, the people that are purposefully the ones you are spending time with," she explained.

The former Wizards of Waverly Place actress then opened up about the difference between spending time with true friends, and really finding out how they are, rather than just going through the motions.
"We go to dinner sometimes with friends, and sometimes we'll go to dinner and we'll leave and we'll think, 'That was such a pointless dinner. What did I learn from it? What will I gain from it? What was the point of it?,'" Gomez revealed. "And then other nights we'll sit at the table for five hours with friends…[discussing] where you are in life."
Gomez then turned to her friends and said, “Like where we are, we’re constantly checking in with each other. Like ‘hey, are you good? Are you good?’”
It’s the simple action of awareness and being present in one’s friendships that Gomez treasures most about 2016 and we totally get it.
Even one of her celebrity BFFs, Taylor Swift, was moved by her message and commented on the live chat to prove it.

While the 24-year-old actress and singer might not always be in the public eye, when she does appear she always makes us want to stop and listen.
