Selena Gomez was featured on “Humans of New York,” and her caption proves she’s one inspiring woman

While Monday night’s Met Gala was all about fashion, glitz and glamor, Selena Gomez took part in a Humans of New York post, and what she had to say is pretty darn refreshing.
The Met Gala was a busy night for Selena. The former-Disney star made her red carpet debut with new boo Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd. What’s more, SelGo’s outfit and accessories were particularly sartorially pleasing. The singer got a new tattoo to match her Coach gown, and had the most low key but amazing cracked glass effect nails for the evening. Seriously, we can’t get enough of this look.
In an introspective move, however, Selena Gomez was photographed by Humans of New York, and she gave the social media account a pretty inspiring quote, too.
As we know, HoNY were at the Met Gala this year. The social media account, which is known for it’s honest portrayal of amazingness of everyday people living in New York, stopped a few celebs, including Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.
Taking part in NoNY’s documentation of the evening, Selena gave the world an insight into her world, and we love what she had to say.
“I feel like I’m just starting, but I think I’d be fine if it all went away,” Selena admitted, speaking about her fame.
"I get that from my mother," she continued. "From the moment I started singing, she always reminded me that all of this was a privilege, and could be taken at any moment. So singing is not how I define myself. "I try to keep my identity rooted in my friendships and my faith."
It’s no secret that Selena Gomez has had a difficult relationship with being in the spotlight, and last year the star took three months away to focus on her mental health. Since then, the singer has returned with a new song with Kygo, and earlier this year spoke to Vogue about her complicated relationship with social media.
In fact, it seems that the star is planning something. Last night, she tweeted to her 47.1 million followers that something was coming soon, and urged fans to sign up to her mailing list. The move comes after One Republic frontman and songwriter Ryan Tedder confirmed to Access Hollywood that he’d been working on a “heartfelt goose-bumpy mid-tempo” track with the star.

Regardless of what Selena is up to, we love hearing her speak so wisely about what is important to her. While fame is obviously an amazing thing, it also has its complications, and it’s great to see people like Selena putting what matters first.
Now, whenever you’re ready SelGo, we’re here (im)patiently waiting for new music…
