Selena Gomez and David Henrie have a magical plan to reboot Wizards of Waverly Place

Break out your wand and make yourself a sandwich—we’re talking about a Wizards of Waverly Place reboot. Apparently, former costars Selena Gomez and David Henrie are on board to shoot a follow-up series of the Disney Channel classic. We’d love to see what the Russo clan is up to these days, and how Alex is using her powers—for good or mischief—although we think we know the answer.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Henrie revealed that he and Gomez talk about making a reboot “all the time.” The pair fantasizes about various scenarios for their characters and basically has the whole reboot planned out, from beginning to end.
"It's not formal," Henrie said. "But, Selena and I sit and talk about what would the reboot be, and we have a whole take. We have a whole thing."
Henrie went on to detail what the former TV siblings have planned for the Russo family down the line.
"Alex is a fashionista, off killing it in some other part of the realm," he said. "Justin's, like, the principal [of WizTech] who has a family now…[Jake T. Austin's] Max has the sub shop, but it's run down. Start us all completely discombobulated and then throughout the course of the series you bring us all together."
Gomez and Henrie’s plans for the Russo siblings aren’t too unpredictable, as Justin was already crowned Principal of WizTech and Max was given the sub shop in the series finale back in 2012. But we do wonder how they see the trio who infamously butted heads finding their way back to each other.
We have more questions: Why doesn’t their master plan mention other key Wizards of Waverly Place characters?
Did their parents, Jerry and Theresa, retire and totally ditch their kids? Does Alex get back together with werewolf Mason, or maybe even bad-boy Dean? Are Alex and Harper still best friends? We can’t imagine the show without Harper’s eclectic homemade outfits, which were honestly the best part of some episodes.
Unfortunately, fans will just have to wait and see until the Wizards of Waverly Place reboot is (fingers crossed) officially announced. Until then, we’ll relish in the fact that Gomez and Henrie are still best buds, all these years later.
