A Selena Gomez country music song exists somewhere in the world, y’all
Being teased by one your musical faves is the absolute worst, but we’re just the messenger so take it easy on us: A Selena Gomez country song exists, however, we may never hear it. See, we warned you how hard this would suck, but before anyone starts bombarding the “Bad Liar” songstress with back-to-back frantic tweets (oops, that’s kind of already happening), a letdown isn’t necessarily the final outcome in this situation.
So here’s the deal: Gomez recorded a country duet with Thomas Rhett, which he oh-so-casually referenced while discussing his upcoming album during a Q & A session at a charity event in March.
"We have this girl named Selena Gomez sing on a song on the record and she's pretty cool," the "Star of the Show" singer told Country Music Television host Alecia Davis.
Um, yeah…Anyway, let’s put the sarcasm aside and get back to the unknown: Are we gonna hear this song or nah?
Well, it’s complicated.
Earlier this week, Rhett talked with Rare Country about whether the Gomez duet would actually appear on his upcoming September album, indicating that the song may never be released.
Although the site suspiciously pulled the interview, it was later reported by Country Fancast.
"It's possible," Rhett said, revealing that he and Gomez have never met in person and only spoken by phone. "Anytime the country world melts into the pop world, it's an interesting conversation. A lot of things need to go correct for it to work out. But yes, Selena did sing a song of mine. It's still sort of up in the air if it's going to actually make the record."
OMG, we can’t even. And it doesn’t help that Gomez has stayed mum on the matter so far.
Ah well, we have no idea how Selenators are going to handle this months-long suspense, but they’ll probably spend the time between now and Rhett’s album release date trying to hide their angsty tears behind the “Bad Liar” Snapchat filter.
