This is what Selena Gomez learned after not using her cell phone for 90 days
Social media is one of the coolest thing about modern times — it enables us to keep up and communicate with friends and family no matter where we are, in a way that just wasn’t possible, previously. It’s a quick and easy way to organize an event, or find people in your area with similar interests, or connect with that cute guy you met at your friend’s party but didn’t exchange digits with without being creepy and overbearing. But for all the good social media does, it can also be overwhelming. Selena Gomez recently took a break from social media in order to better her own health.
She recently finished up her break from her cell phone, and opened up about the impact it has had on her life, and how it’s changed the way she interacts with technology.
"I recently took 90 days off. During that time I did not have my cellphone. It was the most refreshing, calming, rejuvenating feeling. Now I rarely pick up my phone, and only limited people have access to me."
She also revealed that she now makes an effort to make a phone call rather than send a text or an email because she wants as many opportunities for human connection as she can.
Selena’s insight came via Thrive Global’s questionnaire, where she also revealed that she felt burned out prior to taking her break from the internet world. As normal people, even we sometimes feel burned out by the constant feedback loop of social media, so we can’t even imagine how difficult it would be to stay healthy with millions of people analyzing your every move.
Kudos to Selena for doing what she needed to do to better herself — we hope she stays happy and healthy going forward!
