Selena Gomez is the perfect BFF to Taylor Swift after the whole Kanye thing

We all need that bestie who will stick up for us when we can’t stick up for ourselves. It’s becoming clear that our girl Selena Gomez is that BFF for Taylor Swift.

There’s been a lot of controversy surrounding Kanye West’s new song “Famous,” in which he refers to Taylor Swift in a negative and misogynistic way. West defended the reference as not a “diss,” and claimed he received approval for the line from both Swift and his wife Kim Kardashian West.

“I called Taylor and had a hour long convo with her about the line and she thought it was funny and gave her blessings,” West tweeted.

Not so, according to a rep for Swift: “Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single ‘Famous’ on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that bitch famous.’”

Yikes.

However, Swift’s friends have her back. When Selena Gomez was asked about the controversy on Sirius XM’s “The Morning Mash Up,” she said:  “She’s killing it and she kind of always has been. Everybody has their own opinion. At the end of the day, you can just do what you do.” Wise words, Selena.

All this reminds me it’s time to call up my own girlfriends and tell them what badasses they are, no matter what anyone says, otherwise. Stay proud, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez! Your friendship is inspirational.
