The Season 1 finale of “People of New York” is finally here!
Creating your own work is such a whirlwind. That being said, there is no better feeling than making that idea of yours come to life. If you are so inspired, don’t wait for anyone to give you permission to do it, just grab your camera and your friends and make it happen.
The greatest part of putting together People of New York was creating the finale, “Victory & Bobbie,” with my best friend, Faye. My Bobbie.
We met my freshman year of college and quickly became inseparable — bonding over our love of Blink 182 and Weezer. We filled our nights in her windowless dorm room killing cockroaches (armed with only Febreeze) and talking to her poster of David Bowie from Labyrinth over her bed. Ya know, normal girl stuff. And to this day, when Faye and I get together, we refuse to grow up. Life is always good because we are laughing until we feel like we are going to throw up, and we don’t care who sees.
Back in the summer of 2008, we ventured out west to see what the City of Angels was all about. One beautiful, sunny, 72 degree day, we were walking along the Santa Monica boardwalk, when two policemen stopped us. “Victory? Bobbie?” they asked. “Uh… no…” we replied dumbfounded. “Let me see your IDs,” they demanded. So we showed them proof that we were not two girls named Victory and Bobbie, but simply Faye and Jessie from Jersey and Westchester. They apologized and explained that we fit the description of two teenage runaways they were looking for. We spent the rest of our trip cruising in the carpool lane blasting Weezer’s Red album on repeat and fantasizing about these two badass teens on the lamb. This alternate set of best friends have nothing to do with Faye and Jessie, and have everything to do with Victory & Bobbie.
So, watch these two self-obsessed millennials try to leave their mark on the hippest place in the whole wide world…Williamsburg.
