Sean Spicer just referenced that “SNL” impression. You know the one.

When the Saturday Night Live episodes featuring Melissa McCarthy as White House press secretary Sean Spicer first aired, we pretty much died with laughter. The whole internet kind of exploded with essays about why Melissa McCarthy was cast to play the role and ideas for other female comedians to play members of the Trump administration. (Like Rosie O’Donnell as Steve Bannon, which would be absolutely legendary.)
Melissa McCarthy’s Sean Spicer impression on SNL was unparalleled.
That is, until we saw Sean Spicer’s own impression.
In Friday’s press conference, Spicer got major laughs referencing Melissa McCarthy’s SNL performance.
Here’s a quick skit refresher if you need it. (If you don’t have a full eight minutes to watch, skip ahead to 5:07.)

And here’s what Sean Spicer did.

The discussion he’s having with a reporter is a serious one — the question was about whether or not one of Sean Spicer’s tweets broke a federal rule — but the moment is pretty hilarious.
The press secretary isn’t the only one who has been able to laugh at their SNL counterpart. Donald Trump Jr. has also had a little fun with Mikey Day and Alex Moffat’s impressions of him and his brother Eric.
In a tweet, Trump Jr. referenced one of the jokes of the previous episode’s “Weekend Update” segment.

Though his dad President Donald Trump has famously railed against “SNL” — particularly Alec Baldwin’s caricature of him — Donald Trump Jr. and Sean Spicer have been able to find the humor in the sketch comedy show.
With all the political tension lately, we’re glad we can get some laughs across the aisle.
Like Elizabeth Taylor said, “If you can’t laugh at yourself, you’re cooked.” And like Grouch Marx said, “If you find it hard to laugh at yourself, I would be happy to do it for you.”
