So, Sean “Diddy” Combs was only joking about changing his name again, and now we really can’t keep up
It would appear that Sean “Diddy” Combs was only playing a birthday prank on fans when he announced his latest name change. Cancel that new stationery: Diddy will not actually go by the monikers “Love,” “Brother Love,” or any variation thereof. The 48-year-old rapper, mogul, and icon was only kidding.
On November 6th, Diddy revealed on Instagram that the “Brother Love” rebrand was all in jest.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” he says in the video, “Today, I have come to the conclusion that you cannot play around with the internet.” He’s not wrong! As a result of the media’s frenzied response, Diddy’s hand was forced. He had to admit that he was just goofing around for his birthday, as one is wont to do.

“Due to there not wanting to be any confusion,” Diddy solemnly continues, “I was only joking.” Imagine being Sean Combs, but still being surprised when your rebrand becomes global news. Incredible.
The evolution of Diddy’s name is just one of the many, many amazing facets of this man’s life.
Other examples: Diddy once employed a snappily-dressed butler who went by the name Fonzworth Bentley. Fonzworth held umbrellas for Diddy and opened car doors for him. Diddy is also credited with bringing high fashion back into rap. ALSO, rapper Kamaiyah documented on Twitter that in April 2017, Diddy arrived at Quavo’s (of Migos) birthday party by car, but later left the same event on a boat. A boat. If you can, why wouldn’t you, right?
The highest-paid entertainer in the world has reinvented his brand every few years since the late ’90s, but America’s moms and dads will never stop referring to him as “Puff Daddy.” In the event he does decide to go with Brother Love, the internet is at least ready for it.
