It’s official: This is the scariest wrong number text to ever exist

For the most part, those pesky wrong-number texts are pretty innocuous. Most people are happy to send you on your way with a simple “wrong number!” Of course, some people can’t resist the chance to mess with a stranger, and sometimes they’re downright horrifying. The latter case happened to a 23-year-old illustrator who shared her experience on Twitter.

Be warned, what you are about to see is disturbing. We’ll give you some time to prepare. Take some deep breaths.

Wait for it…

Now is your last chance to look away.

Ok, you asked for it.

Here.

It.

Is.

Brace yourself.

Here we go.

It’s…awful. What is it?? What kind of monster would take this picture? Stephne Tate, who originally received the text, didn’t seem to know either. But the tweet blew up. At last count, it had more than 30,000 retweets. Now people want to share it all around the world, terrifying everyone far and wide.

Let’s cleanse our palate with a less traumatic wrong-number story

Remember that woman who would not believe she had the wrong number? All she wanted was for her daughter to bring home groceries after school, and then things got heated. Jess wasn’t allowed to go see the movie!!

Meanwhile we’re over here like: false

While we are permanently traumatized by that example above, on the whole, wrong number texts lead to some pretty spectacular mayhem and chuckles. Never change, people who post their hilarious wrong number stories. Never change.
