We just learned the fates of our favorite “Saved by the Bell” characters, and we are feeling all the feelings
One of the best things about the recent onslaught of reboots of our favorite TV shows is getting to see our fave characters from our youth in their adulthood — it’s comforting to see that everything (usually) turned out alright for them. Although we don’t have a Saved by the Bell reboot (YET), executive producer Peter Engel dished to TV Line about the fate of the Saved by the Bell characters. It started off well enough, with a summary of where everybody’s at in their lives. And we’re pretty into this.
"Zack would probably be the host of a game show or talk show, or he'd be managing a hedge fund; Slater would be a high school football coach; Screech would be Bill Gates; Jessie would have just lost to Donald Trump; Lisa would probably be Vera Wang, or a buyer at Neiman Marcus; and Kelly would be married with children and have a cooking show on the Food Network, which [Tiffani Thiessen] has — and I watch!"
Now, hold your enthusiasm. As we all ooooobviously remember, Saved by the Bell ended with the TV movie Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas. In this movie, Zach and Kelly got married in the Stardust Hotel with their besties Screech, Slater, Jessie, and Lisa.
Fast forward to 2016 — when asked if Zach and Kelly were still married, Peter Engel broke our hearts.
"Probably not ...Well, they'd be married — but not to each other."
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Somebody hold us.
