Sarah Paulson and Cate Blanchett cannot keep their sh*t together during an interview, and it’s what we all deserve
Tuesday morning, Sarah Paulson and Cate Blanchett stopped by The Today Show to promote their new movie, Ocean’s 8, and while they didn’t actually spend a lot of time talking about the film, they gave us something even better.
When promoting a film, most celebrities spend their six minutes on camera talking about the film, sharing a rehearsed “funny story” from set and heaping praise on their co-stars. However, Paulson and Blanchett are clearly not most celebrities. During their visit to the Today Show, they showed they were there for a good time — and maybe to talk about the film for a second or two — much to the amusement of host Hoda Kotb, who was interviewing the pair.
Paulson and Blanchett had Kotb giggling right off the bat, and eventually the Today host’s laughter brought her to tears, complete with running mascara.
The actresses poked fun at one another, with Blanchett revealing that the cast of Ocean’s 8 campaigned for Paulson’s Emmy — because she needed to win something — while Paulson returned the favor by lamenting about Blanchett’s Oscar loss for 2015 film Carol, which they appeared in together. But while Kotb attempted to regain control over the hilariously outlandish interview by calling in co-host Savannah Guthrie for back-up, it was to no avail as Blanchett quickly hopped in to Paulson’s lap to make room.
We may not have learned anything new about the upcoming heist film, but we did get a small taste of the delightful time the Ocean’s 8 cast must have had on set.
This may be the most charming six minutes of your day:
