Sarah Michelle Gellar played “Marry, Shag, Kill” with “Buffy” characters

Buffy fans everywhere rejoiced this week when Entertainment Weekly released a special Buffy 20th Anniversary edition. It featured photos of the cast then and now, as well as extended interviews with the entire Scooby gang (aka: HEAVEN ON PAPER!).

And in a follow-up segment on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Sarah Michelle Gellar played “Marry,” “Shag,” “Kill” with several fan-favorite characters.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the game, it entails listing three names and forcing participants to choose which person they would marry, eh…shag, and kill (pretty self-explanatory). And in this round, Gellar was asked to choose between Angel, Spike, and Xander.

Now we’re sure many of you out there have your own opinions on this one (we know we sure do), but here was the answer straight from Sarah/Buffy’s mouth:

"I mean, I guess [marry] Angel. But can you really marry the undead?" (Cohen assured her you can.) "Shag Spike, obviously...I don't want to kill Xander though. I don't have to! You can't make me! You can't make me do it!"

So there you have it (kind of). Buffy would officially marry Angel, shag Spike, and (not really) kill Xander.

And we’re pretty satisfied.

The interview also touched on why Anthony Stewart Head (aka, GILES!) was missing from the reunion festivities, at which point Gellar explained he was doing a play in London and was unable to attend (but that she was “super sad” about it).

Us too, girl. Us too.

Oh also, Sarah — if you’re not gonna marry Spike, does that mean he’s like, available? Asking for a friend…
