Sarah Michelle Gellar just dyed her hair for “Cruel Intentions” and we LOVE IT

I can’t even begin to count how many times I’ve watched Cruel Intentions. Not only did it have the first soundtrack I ever owned (and listened to repeatedly), but the film felt like a sexy secret that I could share with my high school friends. It’s the only film I owned on both VHS and DVD.

How I wanted to possess Kathryn Merteuil‘s (Sarah Michelle Gellar) style and insouciance. She was just so cool. (And yes, she also had SO many issues, but she was so cool.) Well, it seems that in preparation for her role in the Cruel Intentions reboot, Gellar has dyed her hair back to brunette, and we dig her darker look:

Though she didn’t explain the reason for the dye job, Gellar announced in February that she would be returning to the small screen for the Cruel Intentions television reboot— and the ‘do is very, very reminiscent of Gellar’s character Kathryn Merteuil. In the Cruel Intentions reboot, Kathryn Merteuil, like the actress who plays her, is all grown up. She’s in the midst of a battle for her family company. The battle will be against her step-brother Sebastian Merteuil’s son Bash Casey, played by a American Crime actor Taylor John Smith.

Adding fuel to the speculation was Gellar’s latest Instagram, which I will admit made me scream a little:

Yesssssssss. Cue Bittersweet Symphony.
