Sarah Michelle Gellar is really into Elf on the Shelf and it’s sort of hysterical
Over the years, we’ve seen a lot of different takes on the Elf on the Shelf craze. Who could forget the Canadian parents who elf-ed themselves? Or, even better, the eponymous dad from That Dad Blog dressing up baby Rockwell as the cutest Elf on the Shelf yet? Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Elf on the Shelf Instagrams are back, and once again, they are glorious.
If you’re not familiar with Elf on the Shelf, here’s the gist: families adopt “scout elves” who keep an eye out for naughty and nice behavior. As the clock ticks down to Christmas, the elves fly “home” to report to Santa every night. The next day, they’ll be hiding somewhere new in the house.
Last year, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress took the game’s creativity to new heights. Her elves definitely seemed to have a bit of a naughty streak themselves, as they demonstrated when they kidnapped Anna and Elsa…
…and when they toilet-papered the Christmas tree.
This year, the elves seem to be getting into just as much mischief. Earlier this week, they invaded Gellar’s makeup stash. (Although, let’s be honest – we’d love to get out paws on whatever keeps the 39-year-old looking *that* good, too.)
Despite being gone a whole year, Gellar’s elves remain totally in touch with the latest trends. Last week, she caught them listening to the Hamilton Mixtape. (We wonder if they’d have better luck than us in tracking down tickets.)
And of course, they’re totally besties with the cast of Trolls…
…and diehard fans of The Bachelor (who knew elves could be so relatable?)…
Basically, if you’re not already following Gellar on Instagram, it’s time to start. Christmas Eve will be here before we know it, but in the meantime, we can’t wait to see where Gellar’s elves turn up next. Definitely somewhere good.
