Yes! Sarah Hyland is hosting a ‘Lip Sync Battle’ spin-off — here are the details

The worlds of Modern Family and Lip Sync Battle are about to collide. Nickelodeon announced today that Modern Family star Sarah Hyland is going to be hosting an hour-long spinoff special of the Spike hit series for kids called Lip Sync Battle Shorties.

In addition to being a lot younger than most of the celebrity contestants of Spike’s Lip Sync Battle, the Nick spinoff will feature four real kids lip syncing to their favorite songs. The special will premiere on Nickelodeon on December 11th at 8 p.m. ET before airing on Spike on December 14th at 8 p.m. ET.

Hyland, who will appear as a contestant on the upcoming season of Lip Sync Battle is psyched to be joining the team.

“After having such an awesome experience competing on Lip Sync Battle, I jumped at the chance to host Shorties, said Hyland stated in a press release. "What could be more fun and exciting to see than the next generation of Lip Sync superstars showing off their sensational skills?

According to the press release, in addition to Hyland as host and the performers, the show will include a group of kid dancers to perform with the lip sync-ers, a kid DJ, backstage correspondent, and an M.C. We suggest Luna Stephens serve as M.C. to keep it all in the Lip Sync Battle fam.

Executive Producer of Lip Sync Battle and Shorties Casey Patterson said that the premise of the spinoff came after seeing how many kids were watching Lip Sync Battle. So the producers decided to get them in on the fun, too. She said,

“The happy surprise of Lip Sync Battle has been the reaction from kids and how many of them are watching the series with their families. Lip Sync Battle Shorties is a great opportunity for us to showcase kids’ love of music, comedy and variety.  And what better host than the fun and hilarious Sarah Hyland, who recently gave it her all on the Lip Sync Battle stage. Our Shorties are involved in every aspect of their performances from song selection to choreography and staging. We're having a blast!
