Sarah Hyland clapped back at commenters comparing her body to Emily Ratajkowski’s, and she’s so right

Body shaming in any form is completely uncool, but some people still seem to have missed the memo. Modern Family star Sarah Hyland responded to body-shamers in the comments of her latest Instagram post, where she flawlessly handled the situation by reminding everyone that comparing women’s bodies is never okay.

ICYMI: After Emily Ratajkowski wore a black cutout Michael Kors dress to the 2019 Tony Awards on Sunday, June 9th, Hyland posted a side-by-side shot of Ratajkowski and herself wearing a similar black dress at the 2007 Tonys. In what was meant to be a cute joke about two gowns’ similarities, Hyland captioned the post, “The sister hood of the traveling Tony dress. Spotted on Sarah Hyland in 2007. @emrata Spotted in 2019 wearing it 100000% BETTER.”

Even though Hyland was clearly joking and intended the caption to be lighthearted, a handful of commenters responded by grossly comparing the two women’s bodies or how they wore the dresses.

She edited her caption to address the comments, writing, “I can’t believe I’m editing this. I’m NOT comparing. This is supposed to be a funny post. PLEASE do NOT say anything rude about ‘who looks better,’ It’s not even the same dress.”

Of course, both Hyland and Ratajkowski look stunning in their black dresses. Ratajowski herself agreed, commenting on the post with three heart emojis and writing, “you look amazing.”

It’s not okay to comment on anyone’s body, but we love to see two women supporting each other in such a public way.

Here’s hoping that by continuing to call it out, social media users will stop the prevalence of body shaming. All bodies are beautiful, and we think both Hyland and Ratajkowski are giving fashion inspo for days. Now, where can we get our own black LBD with cutouts and sequin detailing?
