Sarah Hyland sent her TV sister Ariel Winter a LOL birthday message about “the most useless age”

The Dunphy sisters aren’t just close on Modern Family, they’re super close in real life, too. Sarah Hyland wished Ariel Winter a happy birthday on Instagram, and it’s very apparent that they love each other like legit sisters.

Hyland is clearly in the role of the older sister who gives her younger sister sage advice — like the fact that 19 is “the most useless age.”

Winter turned 19 years old on Saturday, which is apparently just one step closer to being 20 — at least according to Hyland.

"Happy 19th Birthday to the little sister I always wanted but never had," Hyland wrote on an adorable picture of the two of them. "I know 19 is the most useless age as you get older but think of it as one year closer to your 20s! Love you so much @arielwinter "

TBH, she’s not wrong.

Once you turn 19, you’re already officially an adult, so you don’t have that to look forward to anymore. But you’re technically still a teenager. So close to adulthood, yet still so far. So we get it.

Winter’s TV mom Julie Bowen also wished the birthday girl a very happy birthday on Instagram. The Modern Family cast really is a real life modern family, and we love the love they all have for each other.

Bowen posted a cute photo of Winter making a wish over her birthday cake (we assume she’s making a wish anyway.) She wrote, “HappyBirthday to my sweet girl!!! @arielwinter I love you!”

Happy birthday Ariel! Even though you’re sooo close to being in your twenties, enjoy this last year of being a teenager.
