Annnnd…Sara Bareilles is making us cry again (in a good way)

Sara Bareilles is at it again! The singer-songwriter is making us cry via song and it’s not the first time. Fret not, these are good tears and you should join us in tearing up to her latest single ASAP! The California native is known for her heartbreaking, touching, and always-moving tunes and her latest song, “She Used To Be Mine” is no different.

This instant hit is off of Sara’s fourth studio album called What’s Inside: Songs From Waitress. This album is unlike her previous work, because it is actually the soundtrack to the new Broadway adaptation of the 2007 movie Waitress. The entire musical is made up of Sara’s songs, which is awesome and definitely music to our ears. The musical will officially open this Spring, and we can’t wait to hear Sara’s songs performed in full Broadway glory. Luckily, we don’t have to wait that long for a sneak peek because the “She Used To Be Mine” video is out now.

The music video begins with Sara looking into the mirror in a black and white vision of a backstage makeup room (like on Broadway) and she just sings. Her words are elegant and obviously perfect. “She’s imperfect, but she tries. She is good, but she lies. She is hard on herself. She is broken and won’t ask for help.” These are just some of the lyrics from the chorus and, as you can tell, they cut you right to the core.

The entire video is amazing. We’re pretty much going to be watching this over and over again all day/impatiently refreshing Sara’s YouTube page in hopes that more new videos magically appear. If you’re totally obsessed with Sara’s new album, you can also go see the Waitress musical in Massachusetts beginning on April 24, 2016.

If musicals aren’t your thing, don’t worry: There’s still a new Sara project for you. I can say that confidently because Sara a lot on her plate right now, so there’s bound to be something for everyone. She isn’t just keeping herself busy in the musical world, she actually just finished a tour for her debut book, a biography called My Life (So Far) in Song. It’s on sale now and features stories about the making of her songs and her life journey in general. Oh, and that’s on top of her other shows and the music she writes that isn’t for Broadway.

“I tried to be candid. I tried to remember things in an unbiased way. I tried to be at least a little funny…. Sounds Like Me is a collection of stories about my own self-discovery,” Sara told Entertainment Weekly about her book, which just skyrocketed to the top of our reading list. Seriously, what can’t this girl do?
