We’re so ready for Sara Bareilles as Ariel in this awesome live concert version of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”

As if a live concert featuring songs from Disney’s The Little Mermaid didn’t sound perfect enough, Rolling Stone announced on Wednesday that the part of Ariel will be played by the incredible Sara Bareilles. She’ll be joined by none other than Rebel Wilson as Ursula the sea witch, adding to the already perfect cast of Darren Criss (Prince Eric), Tituss Burgess (Sebastian), John Stamos (Chef Louis), and Norm Lewis (King Triton).
“I suppose this is the part where I say, ‘Dreams do come true,’” the singer said. “I am truly honored and excited beyond words to be a part of a performance of one of my favorite scores and stories of all time. I’ve been pretending I was Ariel in swimming pools since I was a little girl, and now I get to pretend on a bigger stage. This is just fantastic.”
Sara Bareilles is no stranger to the stage after composing the music for the Broadway musical Waitress. Now, she’s bringing that talent to a performance of her own. Rebel is equally as excited about playing Ursula, saying that she hopes she does the role justice: “It’s just such a delicious role that I’ve always wanted to play.”
The event itself sounds fantastic, happening at the Hollywood Bowl on June 4th featuring not just the concert, but other family activities like a costume contest and fireworks, Rolling Stone said.
We can’t think of a more perfect match than these incredible actors with such an iconic show. Set your alarm for Saturday, April 9th when the tickets go on sale!
