This guy unknowingly ran into the Sandlot actors while wearing a Sandlot tee

You’re killin’ me, Smalls. In the incident of our ‘90s dreams, some of our favorite Sandlot actors ran into a guy wearing a Sandlot tee. But get this: The guy apparently had no idea the “Smalls” from his T-shirt was standing right in front of him. The story is truly legendary. And remember: heroes get remembered, but legends never die.

On July 26th, actor Patrick Renna took to Instagram to share a hilarious picture with the unknowing fan alongside Tom Guiry, who played the iconic Scotty Smalls. Renna (who played Hamilton “Ham” Porter) captioned the photo, “‪Said nice shirt to this dude walking by us and he had no idea what we were talking about. Thought I would capture the moment.”

Fans left hilarious comments on the post as well. One wrote, “The disrespect is unreal.” Another piped in with, “This picture is is going to be in the book of legends, you guys this is great!” And then there’s this gem: “Major parenting fail with this one…doesn’t know the freaking sandlot!”

The fan is seen wearing a black tee with Ham holding a baseball bat in his memorable striped crewneck with the iconic quote in print. It looks like this all occurred in the East Village in Manhattan, New York. That’s certainly a long way from the San Fernando Valley.

The Sandlot celebrated its 25th anniversary in April of this year. Set in the ‘60s, the film is a coming-of-age sports comedy about Scotty Smalls, a young boy who moves to a new neighborhood and befriends a group of kids who play baseball at the local sandlot. The Sandlot was released in 1993 and remains a childhood classic for so many of us.

We hope the unknowing fan eventually pieced the information together. A selfie with Ham and Smalls IRL? Ugh. You’re killin’ us.
