Yikes! Some Samsung phones are spontaneously sending photos to users’ contacts without permission

We’ve all had that nagging fear of accidentally sending a text or photo to the wrong person, but what if your phone did it without your permission? That’s what’s happening to some Samsung users, and this might be the scariest (and potentially the most life-ruining) phone glitch we’ve ever heard of.

According to Gizmodo, people on Reddit and the Samsung forums have been complaining about their phones sending photos to people in their contacts without their permission, and just from the sound of it, it’s Not. Good. So far, there have been reports of phones sending random photos out to random contacts, and in one instance, a phone sent an entire photo gallery. Are you kidding?

The worst part is, there’s no evidence on your phone that the photos were sent — you just have to wait for the lucky random recipient to let you know what they got. How horrifying is that?

And if you have the Galaxy Note 8 or the Galaxy S9, you should be extra careful, because those are the phones used by people who are reporting the glitch so far. For now, it might be safest to import all your photos to your computer and delete them from your phone, especially if there’s anything sensitive on there you wouldn’t want your mom (or your boss) to see.

“We are aware of the reports regarding this matter and our technical teams are looking into it,” Samsung said in a statement sent to Gizmodo. “Concerned customers are encouraged to contact us directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG.”

“Concern” would be just one of the many emotions we’d be feeling if this glitch were happening to us, so let’s cross our fingers that Samsung figures it out soon.
