Samantha Bee is doing a roast the same night as the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and we say YAAAS

In this new presidency, there is a lot of early conflict with the media and news outlets. But that hasn’t stopped the media from continuing to investigate and criticize, where appropriate. And some of our favorite comedians join in as well. In fact, on the night of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Samantha Bee plans to roast the president, so that we all get a good laugh, regardless of how the dinner goes.

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner is a tradition where the press are invited to the White House, and a host comedian typically roasts the president. But in the Trump administration, there are questions as to what the Correspondents’ Dinner will be like. Because the president has already shown that he doesn’t particularly like jokes made about him.

But Samantha Bee will ensure that there’s still a hilarious roast that night.

Samantha Bee announced that on the same night of the Correspondent’s Dinner, she’ll do a special called, “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner” at the Willard Hotel.

Samantha told The New York Times, “We’re not trying to supersede it, she said in a telephone interview. “We just want to be there in case something happens — or doesn’thappen — and ensure that we get to properly roast the president.

Samantha also says that proceeds from the dinner will go towards the Committee to Protect Journalists.

And Samantha may be doing all of us a service, because the Correspondents’ Dinner is not something we want to miss. Because there have been too many awesome moments. Famously, in 2006, Stephen Colbert’s speech to President Bush made headlines for his scathingly hilarious speech. And in 2011, in a weird twist of fate, Donald Trump got roasted by Seth Meyers and President Obama during the dinner.

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner will take place on April 29th, but further details have not yet been released. But regardless, Samantha Bee’s alternative roast is making us laugh already.

We can’t wait to see what this hilarious lady has in store for the new administration. We bet it will be unforgettable.
