Sam Smith might be singing the theme for this major movie

The biggest James Bond mystery is already in full swing, and the movie isn’t even out yet. With Spectre, the latest James Bond movie, set to hit theaters on November 6, speculation is growing for which iconic singer will come up with this installment’s theme song. And Sam Smith might have just given usbig hint.

In a post that went out on both his Twitter and his Instagram, the British “Stay With Me” singer teases his fans with a picture that’s worth 1,000 words.

The picture features a black and white photo of a hand (likely his own) wearing a ring with a symbol that Bond fans would recognize anywhere: an octopus. This creature represents SPECTRE, Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion. This notorious criminal organization is making a comeback after first appearing in the Dr. No Bond film in 1962. This same symbol was also on the teaser poster for the film, released back in December.

This speculation comes after Adele absolutely killed it with Skyfall, the theme song for the previous film. If Sam Smith has actually landed the gig, he not only has to fill Adele’s shoes, but also singers like Tom Jones and Paul McCartney, who came before him in the legacy of Bond themes.

We have a few months before it’s time to grab the popcorn, but more and more details are arriving every day. While it seems likely that Sam Smith is the top contender to sing the film’s theme, we’re sure if the tables turn, whoever it is will still give us a smash hit.
