Sam Smith and Disclosure just did a super dreamy cover of “Hotline Bling”

Drake’s “Hotline Bling” is more of a sexy time jam than something you’d hear while raging at the club — but Sam Smith and Disclosure are here to turn it on its head.

Earlier today, the trio stopped by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge — home of the most innovative and incredible covers of all time — to put their own twist on Drake’s summer jam. (Or, as Vulture puts it, “Sam Smith and Disclosure make Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ sound like a Sam Smith and Disclosure song.”) While they didn’t get their interpretive dance on like FKA Twigs, it’s still pretty amazing.

For those who haven’t listened to the original, please do so immediately. “Hotline Bling” is quintessential Drake: Catchy, intimate, filled to the brim with feelings, and impossible to get out of your head. It was an unusually competitive year for “song of the summer,” but for all the incredible tunes that the music gods blessed us with, Drake’s “Hotline Bling” was easily one of the best.

Sam Smith’s haunting vocals combined with a newly upbeat tempo turn the song into something totally new — and we absolutely love it. (Side note, I’m feeling the fact that they coordinated and wore all black.) The cover is dreamy, a little ambient, and very catchy. It’s the perfect homage to the original, and we can’t stop dancing along. Sam Smith and Disclosure always make music magic together, and this cover is no exception.
