Salma Hayek described the time Donald Trump tried to ask her out
In news that will make you throw up a little in your mouth, Donald Trump once tried to ask Salma Hayek — yes, the Oscar-nominated actress — out on a date. The Mexico-born bombshell dropped one of her own (bombshells, that is) on Friday, appearing on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah to promote her new film, Beatriz at Dinner.
According to Hayek, she was out at an event one night when Trump, who was also in attendance, noticed the starlet shiver (probably because she sensed an unsavory character was nearby), approached her from behind, and placed his jacket over her shoulders. Did we mention her then-boyfriend was sitting right there next to her? Classy, Don.
As if a complete stranger putting his clothes on her without her consent wasn’t creepy enough (who the hell does that?!), Trump proceeded to cozy up to Hayek’s date, inviting them both to dinner and drinks and even offering to set them up for a night or two in one of his luxury hotels the next time they visited New York. He even asked for their telephone numbers. You know, to plan their friendly getaway.
But by now, we all know Trump’s gonna Trump. So, when the time came to reach out and touch someone (thankfully, by telephone only), The Donald called up Hayek…and only Hayek. “[He] never talked to my boyfriend again,” recalled Hayek. And when Trump kept ringing her up and inviting her out, Hayek called him out on his slimy behavior. “Am I crazy? Are you asking me out? You know I have a boyfriend,” Hayek said.
Trump’s gross — but not-at-all surprising — response? “He’s not good enough for you. He’s not important,” Hayek remembered Trump saying. “He’s not big enough for you. You have to go out with me.”
