The SAG Awards nominations are here, and they’ll (mostly) make you cheer

It’s a big week for awards season hopefuls. Just days after the Golden Globe nominations were announced, we’re learning who’s in the running for the 2018 SAG Awards — and overall, we’re pretty pleased.

As happens every year, some of our faves weren’t nominated for the 2018 SAG Awards — COUGH, ARMIE HAMMER, COUGH — and some are looking like they might not fare so well in the Best Picture category at the Oscars. Call Me By Your Name, Dunkirk, The Post, and The Shape of Water weren’t nominated in the Best Ensemble category and, as Entertainment Weekly points out, that’s usually a predictor for whether a film will get the big Oscar nom.

BUT, after being shutout by the Golden Globes, romantic-comedy The Big Sick got some much-deserved attention for supporting actress Holly Hunter and for the ensemble as a whole. And speaking of Golden Globes snubs…Lady Bird and Get Out both received love, but weren’t nominated in the directing category, which had many pretty damn heated. And while there isn’t a directing category here — because, it’s the Screen Actors Guild — both films got some major noms that make them big-time awards season contenders. Namely, Lady Bird was nominated for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Ensemble, and Get Out was nominated for Best Actor and Best Ensemble, and OMG WE ARE SO EXCITED.

There’s so much more to be stoked about where the 2018 SAG Awards is concerned — GLOW, The Disaster Artist, I, Tonya, Big Little Lies, The Handmaid’s Tale, Game of Thrones, etc. etc. — so take a look at the full list of nominees below. We’re sure you’ll be cheering.
