In sad couple news, Mel B has filed for divorce from husband Stephen Belafonte

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we’ve just learned some sad couple news. Former Spice Girl, Mel B has filed for divorce from her husband, Stephen Belafonte. After nearly a decade of marriage, the two have decided to officially call it quits. Melanie “Mel B” Brown and Belafonte separated in late December, and according to People, Brown is now seeking joint legal and physical custody of their 5-year-old daughter, Madison Brown Belafonte.

The couple married in 2007, after a quick five months of dating. In the ten years they’ve been together, the couple created a blended family with their children from past relationships. They also started their Sunset Boulevard restaurant, Serafina.

The stability of Brown and Belafonte’s relationship has been questioned by fans since December of 2014, but both Brown and Belafonte cleared the air about rumors via social media, and life seemed to go back to normal for the pair.

Just over a month ago, Brown posted a photo on her Instagram reaffirming her love for Belafonte. She wrote, "My baby boo @stephenthinks11 we have been through everything that would normally tear couples apart and we have come out on the other side stronger..."
