Ryan Seacrest just got stuck in an elevator because it’s 2016 so of course he did

You may have experienced a rough year. But at least you’re (hopefully) not stuck in an elevator.

You see, in a predictably 2016 moment, Ryan Seacrest got stuck in the Time Square elevator that leads to the New Year’s Eve ball.

It’s no secret we want this year over. We’ve even compiled lists of the funniest 2016-bashing tweets. Like many a celebrity this year (remember how Kylie and Kendall Jenner got stuck in an elevator? And before that, Selena Gomez got stuck in one, too), Ryan Seacrest kept his cool and filmed the whole ordeal for his Instagram followers. And, let us tell, you, it is a SAGA.

It started early this morning, when Seacrest took a photo of New York City’s Chrysler Building at sunrise. He took this early morning shot to promote his Good Morning America appearance — and his New Year’s Rockin’ Eve show tomorrow night.

An hour later, the elevator heading up to the New Year’s Eve ball in Time Square got stuck.

Next, Seacrest posted a greeting his followers from the elevator.

“We’re supposed to be on Good Morning America, he says in the video. “But we can’t get there.

Seacrest and company then ring the alarm again, clearly hoping to attract someone’s attention. They’re laughing and cheerful. However, you can tell they’re starting to get tired of this elevator.

Finally, with the help of the FDNY, the elevator’s occupants were released. They had to wait to get out until the power was shut off, but they were clearly excited about the fresh air and promise of freedom.

Seacrest was obviously happy to get to the Good Morning America studio.

After that, he kept making jokes about the elevator. And we can’t blame him. After all, nobody wants to be stuck in an elevator.

And when Seacrest had to make another attempt to get to the ball, he joked about getting stuck again. He even pointed out that the original elevator had an “Out of order” sign on it. Thankfully, the second elevator worked and he was on the move.

Finally, Seacrest was able to test the ball with Jenny McCarthy. It’s a satisfying moment of success after his difficult morning.

We’re glad that, like the other celebrities who braved faulty elevators this year, Ryan Seacrest is okay. Thankfully, he’ll be a huge help in ringing in 2017 — and, TBH, it can’t come soon enough for us.
