Ryan Reynolds says Deadpool is pansexual and we think that’s freakin’ great
Ryan Reynolds opens up about a few things in his Variety cover interview, including portraying everyone’s favorite mercenary, Deadpool — and the superhero’s sexuality.
The 40-year-old actor said that Deadpool’s pansexuality, which was hinted at in the first movie, should be showcased more. He’s the first Marvel character of his kind.
“What love is to Deadpool may not be what love is to Batman or someone else. I think that could be played up more. He’s an outsider in every way, shape, and form,” Ryan told Variety.
He waited more than a decade to portay Deadpool onscreen and already knew what he would bring to the character, but even Ryan got a little nervous before the film was shown to the world.
“By the time we were in post, we’d been to Comic-Con, and people went crazy for it. The expectations were eating me alive…Blake helped me through that. I’m lucky to have her around just to keep me sane,” he said of his wife, Gossip Girl actressBlake Lively.
He had no reason to be nervous, TBH. Ryan Reynolds seemed as if he was MADE to be Deadpool. He even possesses the same natural wit that his character does; it’s amazing.
Of course, we’re all excited for the franchise to continue and there’s no doubt that Deadpool could never be the same without him inside that suit.
“I would love to play Deadpool for as long as they would let me play Deadpool. We have outlines and stories for a number of different films,” he said.
The Deadpool sequel starts shooting this year, with a 2018 release expected.
