We now know how Lady Gaga’s character connects “American Horror Story: Roanoke” to “Coven” and it’s a doozy
We’ve been speculating so much about American Horror Story this season that, at once point, I literally sat down and made a fan theories spreadsheet because, really, there were just SO MANY THEORIES and so many of them were promising and/or were contingent on other theories being accurate. You probably think I’m joking, but such is the life of an AHS super-fan.
Finally, we’ve had a theory officially confirmed by Ryan Murphy himself. This season is directly connected to AHS: Coven after all. And the connection is a doozy.
In a press conference ahead of Episode 6, “Chapter 6,” tomorrow night, the AHS god himself confirmed that Lady Gaga’s Season 6 character Scáthach is actually the Original Supreme.
false
Say it with me now: WHAT?!!
Supremes (aka, the most powerful witches in their respective generation) first appeared in Coven, the third season of American Horror Story. That entire season centered on the question of who would be the next Supreme when Jessica Lange’s character, Fiona Goode, began to die.
Obviously this begs a whole host of questions – like how Scáthach isn’t quite dead, when we all already know that the next Supreme only inherits the title/her powers when the previous Supreme dies? Or is Scáthach actually kinda-sorta dead? Is there a loophole just because she’s the first of her kind? What’s her deal with needing sex with Matt? SO MANY QUESTIONS.

In addition to a slew of other news bites about the big Season 6 twist, new roles, and who else is returning this season, Murphy revealed the true nature of Gaga’s character – and how she’ll be important going forward. Specifically, Murphy is already planning on bringing her back in a future season that will revisit the witchiest (and arguably most fashionable) season of the series.
“At some point, we’re going to do a return to the Coven season. I don’t know what season that will be, Murphy confirmed.
I don’t know about you guys, but this is the best news I’ve heard about Roanoke all season. That Edward Mott-Dandy Mott connection was pretty spectacular, but this might just take the cake as the best inter-season AHS connection ever.
