Here’s Everything We Know About the ‘AHS’ Spinoff, ‘American Horror Stories’
Including who's in the cast and when it premieres.
As if the upcoming Season 10 of American Horror Story wasn’t enough of the thrilling anthology series for you, show creator Ryan Murphy has even more to offer. After announcing last year that the show was getting a spinoff, we finally have more information about it.
Called American Horror Stories, the new series will be independent episodes airing exclusively on FX on Hulu starting July 15th. And while the show is set to feature some AHS mainstays as part of the cast, Murphy shared on June 3rd what he’s calling “The Fantastic Four.”
Murphy Instagrammed a photo of Nico Greetham, Dyllón Burnside, Kevin McHale, and Charles Melton, all of whom should be familiar faces from the other popular series they’ve appeared in.
Murphy originally announced this spinoff on May 11th last year, sharing a screenshot of a Zoom call with the incredible cast of AHS to his Instagram, but he also nonchalantly announced this spinoff.
“‘American Horror Story’ cast zoom call…where we reminisced about the good times…the spin off we’re doing called “American Horror Stories” (one hour contained episodes)…when we will start filming the next season of the mothership…and other stuff I cannot print,” Murphy captioned his post. “It was so much fun and I’m glad we caught up. I miss everyone!”
Jessica Lange, Lily Rabe, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, Angela Bassett, Adina Porter, Angelica Ross, Finn Wittrock, Denis O’Hare, Dylan McDermott, Taissa Farmiga, and Cody Fern had all entered the chat. And what a chat it must have been.
It was a bit of time before we got more information on this spinoff—and frankly we weren’t convinced it was real. But Murphy shared an appropriately haunting poster for American Horror Stories on Twitter in November 2020, also writing that they would be “doing 16 one hour stand alone episodes delving into horror myths, legends and lore…many of these episodes will feature AHS stars you know and love.”
Beyond the small cast announcement and the premiere date, we don’t know a whole lot else, which absolutely tracks for any Ryan Murphy project.
We’re still a little confused, but we’re also very excited. The anticipation is torture, Ryan! But, on the other hand, the thought of more AHS goodness gives us life. And at least we don’t have *too* long to wait for American Horror Stories to start airing.
