Will Ryan Gosling star in the next live-action Disney movie?
Another day, another live-action Disney announcement, and this one comes with two awesome parts. One, it involves Ryan Gosling. And two, it involves one of our favorite Disney theme park attractions, The Haunted Mansion.
Rumor on Main Street, U.S.A. right now is that Gosling is in talks to join Guillermo del Toro live action Haunted Mansion movie, and this sounds like a match made in Fantasyland. There was a short time when we thought (and hoped) that Gosling would take on the role of the Beast in the live-action Beauty and the Beast, but it was simply too good to be true (the role ultimately went to Dan Stevens). Since then, Disney has been trying to find something for the former Mouseketeer to do, and it looks like Haunted Mansion might be it.
The Haunted Mansion movie has been in development on the DL for a while now, and it will not be anything like the other Haunted Mansion movie from way back in 2003. Instead, del Toro’s take will be a “supernatural family adventure” and who better to take on a family adventure role than new dad himself, Gosling? Gosling’s a big Disney fan, and del Toro’s a HUGE Disney fan and a HUGE Haunted Mansion fan (he’s even got a room dedicated to the attraction in his house. Confession: I’m super jealous of that).
Hopefully this turns out to be more than just a really good rumor. Like, seriously, we’re fangirling at the very idea that it might be true. If you’ve ever experienced The Haunted Mansion attraction, you know that the ghostly guide of the ride claims that the mansion has got “room for one more,” and we hope they’ve been saving a spot for Gosling, too. Because, you have to admit that, “hey, girl foolish mortals” does have a nice ring to it.
