Ruth Bader Ginsburg says she plans to work for at least 5 more years, and YASS, JUSTICE

President Donald Trump has been in office for a year and a half, but he’s already nominated two justices to the Supreme Court: Neil Gorsuch in 2016 and Brett Kavanaugh in early July. Trump’s SCOTUS picks have shifted the court to the right, and some worry that 85-year-old liberal justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will retire next, leaving another empty seat for Trump to fill. But in a recent interview, Ginsburg declared her intent to stay on the bench for at least five more years.

According to CNN, Ginsburg attended a July 29th performance of The Originalist, a play about the late Justice Antonin Scalia. Afterward, she told the network that she hopes to continue serving on SCOTUS at least until she’s 90.

"I'm now 85," Ginsburg told CNN. "My senior colleague, Justice John Paul Stevens, he stepped down when he was 90, so think I have about at least five more years."

And in case RBG fans are worried that Trump might try to impose term limits on justices, Ginsburg added that this is not likely to happen.

"You can't set term limits, because to do that you'd have to amend the Constitution," Ginsburg said. "Article 3 says [...] we hold our offices during good behavior. And most judges are very well behaved."

The Washington Post noted that Ginsburg is five years past the average retirement age for the past 11 justices. But the Notorious RBG has shown no signs of slowing down. She even reportedly hits the gym twice a week with a personal trainer — and her workout routine is no joke.

We’re breathing a sigh of relief (and cheering in our seats) that Ginsburg plans to continue her fight for justice.
