The Russian ambassador offered to meet with Sarah Jessica Parker after she posted a “Sex and the City” meme

On Thursday, actress Sarah Jessica Parker re-posted a meme of her famous HBO character on her Instagram account. There’s a complicated international backstory here, but the upshot is, she was probably not expecting Russia to notice. And now she’s got an invite to meet the ambassador??

Let’s back this up a bit.

“I couldn’t help but wonder…had the Russian ambassador been meeting with everyone except me?” says the text which is in response to numerous members of the Trump team allegedly meeting with the Russian ambassador. Sarah Jessica Parker’s Instagram caption hilariously says:

"I had to. Don't know the provenance however whoever you are, thank you. X, sj"

After the release of the news that Sessions, and other Trump team members, met with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak in 2016Huffington Post deputy editor, James Michael Nichols created and tweeted the meme.

And it took off, because…Internet.

It does make sense. Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City would likely feel a little left out if all of society was getting an exclusive with the Ambassador while she lounged at home. And it’s super hilarious that SJP saw the meme and couldn’t help jumping on the bandwagon.

But this part was probably a surprise.

Amazingly, the Russian Ministry’s spokesperson, Maria Zakharov, responded on Friday to SJ with a meme as well. It reads: “If #SarahJessicaParker desperately wants to meet Russian Ambassador to US — anything is possible. Sergey Ivanovich will be happy.”

Although SJ’s character wrote about sex and men for her column, she may be breaching into political journalism via memes. At this point, Sarah Jessica Parker has yet to accept the invitation, but like Zakharov said, anything is possible.
