‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ Honest trailer is has us facepalming and laughing at the same time

When holiday specials begin their seasonal TV takeover this year, we’re considering sitting out one in particular. The Honest trailer for Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer has basically scarred us and we’re not sure we’ll fully recover in time for the classic film’s annual airing.

We’re no strangers to Screen Junkies’ all-too-real trailers mercilessly exposing the flaws in popular movies (fans are probably still reeling over the Frozen Honest trailer), but we majorly cringed, face-palmed and laughed our way through their latest blunt analysis. Seriously, we thought Rudolph was one of the Christmas specials we couldn’t live without, but we’re currently reconsidering that stance.

Soo, where to start. Ah, yes! Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is basically a weird ass film full of random characters and major inconsistencies. For example, we didn’t even bat an eye at the randomness of Coach, a reindeer who was boss enough to lead his other antlered brethren in reindeer games, but not important enough to receive an honorable mention in the famous theme song.

Also part of the random crew was Rudolph’s girlfriend Clarice and the crazy Woodsman who had a habit of licking his ice pick (that weirdness didn’t escape our notice).

The trailer also hilariously calls out all the other reindeer for being all stuck up about Rudolph’s shining nose. It even takes a shot at Santa for dissing Rudolph — until he realized his nose could help guide him and the other more important reindeer through the snow. SANTA WAS SO DAMN SHADY, Y’ALL.

Obviously, that one elf who wanted to be a dentist, the Island of Misfit Toys and basically the film’s entire plot were not spared from ridicule, as the trailer pegs the film as more like “Lord of the Rings for kids on acid.”

We still feel kind of guilty for allowing all of this questionable shit to fly right under our noses for all these years, but the laughs that we got from this trailer are helping us feel a whole lot better.
