Here’s everything we know about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s *massive* royal wedding guest list
Unless you really haven’t been paying attention, you know a royal wedding is happening — and it’s happening fairly soon. Ever since their engagement, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made it perfectly clear that their wedding is going to be unlike any other traditional royal wedding to date. And as far as the royal wedding guest list goes, there has been much speculation about who’s going to be invited, and who’s not.
As officially announced on March 2nd, we know for sure that over 2,500 members of the public have been invited to the wedding on May 19th. Yes, “commoners.”
According to a statement released by Kensington Palace, 1,200 members of the public from the United Kingdom will be nominated to attend. The people chosen to attend the royal wedding will be from a “broad range of backgrounds and ages, including young people who have shown strong leadership, and those who have served their communities.”
Another 200 people will come from the various charities and organizations Harry and Markle have “a close association” with. One hundred students from two local schools, The Royal School in Windsor and St. George’s School in Windsor Castle, are also invited. Another 610 are Windsor Castle community members and residents, and another 530 are members of The Royal Households and Crown Estate.
It’s a pretty mind-boggling royal wedding guest list as is, considering no major celebrities or public figures have officially been announced as guests.
There have been plenty of rumors, though, namely that Prince Harry personally asked Ed Sheeran to perform at his wedding. The Spice Girls are also rumored to be attending, though this one may not be too far off. Scary Spice (aka Mel B) recently appeared on daytime talk show The Real, and haltingly revealed that all the Spice Girls were invited to the wedding.
Unless any other official announcements are made, we won’t know for sure who exactly is invited. But it’s pretty cool to see the couple opening up the royal wedding guest list to the general public. Now we just have to wait for the big day.
