Roseanne Barr already wants more seasons of the “Roseanne” revival, and YES, PLEASE

Someone is counting their chickens before they hatch. The TV industry has never been more uncertain when it comes to ratings and how that translates into renewals and cancelations, but Roseanne Barr is already asking for more seasons of her Roseanne revival…and it hasn’t even premiered yet!

Speaking at a Paley Center panel in New York City last night, The Hollywood Reporter reports that Barr had high hopes for the success of the ABC revival of the iconic comedy. “We all want to definitely [do more seasons],” she said. “We had such a blast. And it was just so fun to be together again. We remember all the old jokes and all the old things that we used to do and they were so funny and still fun.”

While it’s still too early to call, Barr might be on to something. ABC’s reboot of Roseanne has already been expanded from the originally ordered eight episodes to nine, which is a sign of goodwill from the network and studio. And Roseanne does have a good track record — the original Roseanne ran for nine seasons from 1988 to 1997.

But getting the band back together for a revival isn’t enough. It takes more than the original recipe, cast and writers to bring a classic series to a modern audience, and only time will tell if Roseanne cracked the code. But according to Barr, filming with her old TV family back on the Roseanne set has already made her feel “young again.”

“It kind of felt like it took some years off,” she said. “It subtracted some years from my life.”

But Barr’s TV husband John Goodman had the opposite perspective. He joked that he is more than willing to film future seasons, “if I live that long!”

Do you want to see more Roseanne? You can judge for yourself if the revival deserves more seasons when it returns to ABC tonight at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
