Rose Byrne just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy!
Rose Byrne is officially a mama! Yay!
Her longtime boyfriend (and baby’s father) Bobby Cannavale made the announcement Friday night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“I had a baby on Monday, yes,” Cannavale said. “You know, I didn’t do anything. We [men] don’t do anything and I’m so tired. I think I’ve gained twenty-eight pounds since Monday. I mean, I’m not kidding you. Like, this jacket fit so well, like, last Thursday. But I’ve been eating so much.”
He then told Colbert that the baby’s name is Rocco and that Rocco “is doing great.” I’m a fan of the name, what about you guys? According to the website Behind the Name, Rocco was “the name of a 14th-century French saint who nursed victims of the plague but eventually contracted the disease himself. He is the patron saint of the sick.” What a name to live up to!
The couple, who have been together since 2012, are reportedly being showered with gifts. Cannavale told Colbert that actor and “idol” Al Pacino gave them an always-useful cake made out of diapers to celebrate Rocco’s birth.
Rocco is the first child for Byrne, and the second for Cannavale. His eldest son Jake Cannavale is twenty years old — an age difference that prompted Colbert to joke “nice grouping.”
